The club was created in late 2007 early 2008 by O.M.R.A member Dave Monck. As the Hove lagoon has always been used by model boaters he decided that as there were no other clubs in the imediate area it would be
a good idea to start one up once again.
The Brighton Modelworld exhibition attracts hundreds of visitors every year.
So that was were Brighton & Hove Model Power Boat Club had its launch
in February 2008. It had good support from other members of O.M.R.A from along the south coast and a lot of interest and support was generated form
the show.
The Brighton & Hove Power Boat Club was very fortunate that in the March
of 2008 it held its very first race at Hove lagoon. There has been no racing
of this kind for many years at the Hove lagoon. So it was well received, and commented by other O.M.R.A members "how good it was to be back here racing again".
This first race was in the form of the first leg of the O.M.R.A "Z" class British championships with an excellent start to a years racing having a turn out of around thirty five race entries.
You are invited to join our club at any time or call us for more information, and more than welcome to come and talk to us when are down at lagoon although at present we have no set meeting times arranged so it would be pot luck.
To join our club the anual cost for a new member is £12.00 or £10 for Senior Citizens, Disabled and Juniors. Renewal is £10.00 or £8.00 for Senior Citizens, Disabled and Juniors. Unfortunatley if you wish to participate in racing you will have to become a member of O.M.R.A also. The reason for this is for insurance cover, becuase at the moment the club has to few members for it to be viable to take out our own insurance.
