Rules of the Hove Lagoon
1. Remember at all times safety is of the up most importance always be careful and sensible.
2. We are guests of Lagoon Watersports at the Hove Lagoon. If at any time a member is requested to cease his or her activity you agree to do so without argument.
3. The Hove Lagoon is home to a variety of birds, swans in particular, these birds will normally stay out of the way, but always take great care. If they start to swim out into your path STAY well clear of them or bring your boat in until they have moved on.
4. The Hove Lagoon is shared with other users, any dangerous manoeuvring of boats may lead to a club member being voted out.
5. No boat will be allowed to run unless it is fitted with a working failsafe on the throttle servo, this should be tested prior to any activity on the water.
6. All boats must run within the rule of 75 decibels maximum noise at a distance of 10 metres, any boat found to be over this must be removed from the water and the problem rectified.
7. Only frequency's in the 27MHz AM band, 40 MHZ AM or FM band and the new 2.4 band are allowed use on the Hove lagoon.
Z Class
1. Any Z Class boat will be permitted to run on the Hove Lagoon. That is a size .12 engine either standard, modified, submerged or surface drive with or without a gearbox.
2. All rules for running Z class can be found in the O.M.R.A members handbook.
3. The Hove Lagoon is hoped to be in the O.M.R.A calendar as hosting one of the rounds for the British championships. On this organised race day ALL rules from the O.M.R.A handbook must be observed, this should be standard practise anyway.
4. All Z class boats must display an O.M.R.A membership number which must be visible on each side of the boat.
Other Classes
1. Other classes will also be able to run at the Hove Lagoon. Because of the increased speed of other classes they may only be certain times that these boats will be allowed to run.
2. These are the other classes allowed to run, as laid out in the O.M.R.A handbook:
Class AA 0 – 3.5cc Non spark ignition
Class A 3.51 – 7.5cc Non spark ignition
Class B 7.51 – 11.0cc Non spark ignition
Class C 11.1 – 50cc Non spark ignition
Class D 0 – 50cc Spark ignition only
3. Any boats of these classes running on the water must have the relevant class letter and O.M.R.A membership number visible on each side of the boat.
Meetings
1. Meetings will be at the Hove Lagoon on Friday nights and maybe Saturday afternoons. Other meetings are yet to be arranged depending on how the membership grows.
2. It will be possible for members to meet up during other evenings and run their boats if so desired. There are no fixed times that boats are allowed to run, just be observant of what is going on around you and use your common sense.
3. Sundays may present problems as there is a yacht club that operates on some Sundays. If you go down to the lagoon and the yacht club are running the club asks you kindly not run your boat or ask permission.
4. As mentioned before the Hove Lagoon is open for all types of sport and we all need to get along trouble free.
